The dance that Harrison performs with the ballerina shows a life without having to be alike. They want to show how wonderful the world can be by having different abilities. The dance changed the passage by making us, the readers, see that there is people in that world that wants to escape from equality.
The significance of the dance is the start of a new beginning build of opportunities and freedom. It also an intend of propaganda of Harrison toward the people to show and convince them that he could make a change in their life of abuse, no justice, and punishments.
The reason of this dance, was for Harrison to show the whole world that they dod not have to live shut down and not being able to show what they can really do. He is showing the world ( on t.v) that they can reach so much more and that they are better than the way the government is treating them. This showed me that a world where everyone is alike could not work because eventually someone would want to show their full capacity.

"The Dance" symbolizes the way of freedom at being able to do more than average, and that is way much fun thing to do in life than to be having a life with limited barriers.
The dance is to mark how differences are beautiful and that with them amazing things can be achieved. During this small portion of the story it seems to be writted in an even more unrealistic and poetical way. This making the difference so much more noticed of what wonders where supressed by the unfair equality.
I agree with Ahra, Harrison performs the dance to show the other people there is no boundaries in his society. He tells and shows the society to join him and if they join him they can dance when ever they want. He shows everyone that there is no limits and that they should join his revolt against handicaps.
The dance is the first real riot against the government. Harrison dances to tell everyone that he will make a new world, where people can be affectionate, normal, and without handicaps. Harrison suggests with this dance that there are better things in this world that to listen to the government.
The point of showing the dance was to show that different people have different skills, skills that make us all wonderful and unique.
Several students wrote that Harrison is showing the world how wonderful it is to be different. Let's not forget that Hazel and George forgot (what they had just seen). It is a pity that, in the end, Harrison and the ballerina's death did not change anyone, since more advanced thinking is interrupted. Note: whenever George's thoughts questioned higher themes, the signal was more disturbing. For example, "George Bergeron correctly identified the earthquake, and well he might have - for many was the time his own home had danced to the same crashing tune. 'My God -' said George, 'that must be Harrison! The realization was blasted from his mind instantly by the sound of an automobile collision in his head." Because George was beginning to remember his son, the signal was more rattling.
