Hazel and George

Consider the characters of Hazel and George. Why isn’t Hazel handicapped? How does George seem to feel about his handicaps?

Hazel is not handicapped because according to them she has the average intelligence that a human being should have. George does seem to hate his handicaps but he does not really show it, He kind of keeps it inside to not bother his wife. He also grows used to it because it has been on him for such a long time that they did not bother as much anymore.
I also noticed that his wife is a little bit ignorant because she says she would put chimes on sundays instead of just saying she would take them off.

Supposedly she Hanzel is not handicapped, because she has normal inteligence. WRONG, she actually was born with short term memory, and it turned out more convenient to the government for her to be like that, cause like that, if something ever bad happened she wouldn't be able to tell no one and so like that people wouldn't go against the gov.

Anyways... i think that George doesn't like them, but he is too scare to take them off. As he said in the story, if someone would take them and show their ability to be the best, then someone else would try to do it even better without the handicap, creating that the old way of the world of being a mess comes back, meaning for him "chaos".

Hazel does not use a handicap radio because her intelligence is not beyond the average intelligence a human should have.
On the other hand, George is above this average and uses a handicap radio 24/7. Even though this radio must be very uncomfortable, I don't think George notices it because he is so used to it.
Even if he didn't like it, he had no choice because as he said so himself, there were severe consequences if the rules were not followed.

Hazel is not handicapped because there is nothing about her that is extraordinary. She is simply the perfect average.
George on the other hand is very smart so he has handicaps. He does not mind them and is actually gratful for them because he really believes that without this supposed reality life would indeed return to the supposed dark ages. He is glad he has these handicaps in order to make everyone else equal. He doesn't even notice the sacrifice he is making.

Well, Hazel is not handicapped because she has an average intelligence level. George in the other hand, is very intelligent and likes to speak his mind, proving why George was given a handicap. When I think of Hazel, I remember being back in elementary, where all the children were innocent and didn't say much about what they thought. Hazel reminds me of a not-fully grown person.

Hanzle is not handicapped because she is not a superior like George is.
