TV, George, and Hazel

How are George and Hazel Bergeron described? What sort of life do they lead? What is Vonnegut parodying here? What does the story warn against? To what extent do television, radio, and the mass media generally function like George's mental handicap radio?

George is described as a very intelligent person so that is why he has to use the transmitter that shocks him everytime. He is also down to earth and agrees to things that Hazel says.
Hazel, I think is the exact opposite of George. She is very scatterbrained and forgets things easily, she is always thinking about different random things. For example when she talks about George's handicap radio. Which also brings me to the way that they have set up the television and radio, it is basically controlled so that everything you see is only the normal and average intelligence that everyone has to be.

Hazel is described as pretty dumb, she usually talks bout random stuff, and if she was about to say something to George, she would completely forget what she was going to ask him, she is horrible at memorizing stuff, plus she was borned like that, so basically not her fault. George is way smarter than Hazel, and das why he needs 2 use a handicap so that he's intelligence level goes back down to supposely to an average level.
Basically all of the electronic stuff brain washes ur brain so that you think that everyone is equal, even the people that have careers.

The personalities of George and Hazal greatly differ. According to the Author, George is very intelligent, and as a result he to be handicapped in order to be in the same level as Hazal.Hazal is blockheaded and has lack of memory because she forgets the reasons of her actions. For example, when she forgot the reason she crying.

As the people above mentioned, George is very intelligent and Hazel is the exact opposite of George. Because of this, George has to use that radio, which shocks him to scatter his thoughts.

When you control what people see, you basically control what they mostly aquire in terms of knowledge. You control the news, you control the entertainment, you control the opinions of many. George and Hazel, although carrying different identities, are also, like many, trapped in this web of deception. With George being too smart, and Hazel being about "normal".

George is a rally intelligent person but cannot use his intelligence because an apparatus creates a sharp noise interrupting his thoughts every twenty seconds. Hazel is described as "normal" although in the context, she really is dumb. She forgets things really easily and quickly and has no handicap. They both are married and George agrees with everything that she says.

They live a pretty normal life, according to society. George works. At the end of the day, Hazel and George end up watching TV. In this society, its kind of like propaganda and are caught in the webs of deceit. They really can't do anything about what's going on and simply accept what the TV says.

George and Hazel are described to be equal because he is alittle more smarter than Hazel is, which creates a balance between the inteligence they share. Both of them have to carry a bag because of their sins of being unequal to the other sitizens. From the information given in the beginning, it is easily understood that some kind of powerful character is trying to force equality among the people. TV, Radio and other jobs were also controlled in how the brocasters speak, sits, and react to.

George is someone who is highly intelligent, he has to use a chip. Hazel is someone who is "normal" she forgets things almost instantly. like when she saw the TV and she was crying and then she forgot why.

Television, radio, and the mass media fill our brains with information (true and false. Many of us spend our free time glued to screens, which keep showing images and sound. Since shows are passed nonstop, we do not halt and think about the message of what we just watched. There could possibly be intuitive individuals that do not develop their abilities because they are too "busy" watching movies or their favorite show.
