Satire

What is the purpose of this satire?

This story expresses an extreme satire towards human submition, giving up easily, and ignorance. When people ignore what is happening in their surroundings because it is convient, find themselves in a position were they can't do anything about what happens to them. This shows the extreme of the consequence of ignorance, and I think we should think of it as a type of lesson.

What is the lesson to be learned then? Who was ignorant? What does it also say by Harrison being killed?

There is Satire around the end in Harrison Bergeron because imagining the picture in your head of Harrison, who is a big, tough, and handsome guy with the metal restraints on him and then they say he has shaved eyebrows and a red nose, that shows the making fun of a person for a brief moment of time.

I think that the Satire of this story is that when Harrison made his big impression, George and Hazel were watching how he kissed the baillarina and threw her up in the air and it kind of symbolized freedom, i felt that George and Hazel went back to normal like if it didn't really happen.

In this short story, satire can be found almost anywhere. Like Amy said, there is towards human submission/ ignorance. The example reflects on Hazel and George, but mostly on Hazel because she really doesn't have an idea of what's going on and has thought oubursts every 20 seconds. But there is also satire, like Hani said, about freedom. The example, like Hani said, was Harrison throughing the ballerina in the air and them jumping and their final kiss. Its making fun of us, who have freedom, because we can do that and they can't, as seen a few lines ahead that they are shot down by Diana Moon Glampers. Harrison Bergerson, to me, died kind of free.

the lesson to be learned is satire as well, and it gives me a confusing message. Does it mean that if we try to go against popular opinion which is in some way wrong, we will be brought down by trying to be different? Will we always be condemned to live like grazing sheep, useless to try to take control of our lives??

Satire in the story expresses something very strong. People are being ignorant like smart people. Is really unfair that people are killed or shucked because they know more than others. They weren't born because they wanted to or they are smarter and people are being treated unfairly

The purpose of this satire is to show people that only having the same characterization of the people will make the world ordinary and it will make it boring if we look at it in the future. So it means that not giving up easily is a way to keep going and probably you're able to reach your goal. Also, as Amy said that not ignoring each other will help the society to become better. Especially helping the people that need help.

The purpose of Satire in this story was to contradict the "good" and the "bad". It creates an contrast that would make the reader indicate what is normal in the story that could be something that is not in the reader's world. It divides the reality and the cruelty from the everyday life of the characters in the story.

This story is a satire for obvious reasons. The way the author aggrandizes the way of looking at Harrison makes the ending a surprise and humorous. In this story it not only ridicules the society for its attempt of equality but also rejects the idea.

I agree with Amy and pichi that you cannot ignore what is happening around you just because you think it is convenient, you will end up loosing.
